Are You Leaving A Valuable Federal Employee Benefit On The Table?

As a federal executive, did you know that your agency may reimburse you for up to 50% of your professional liability insurance (PLI) annual premium?  If you didn’t, you may be leaving a valuable benefit on the table. Public law requires agencies to reimburse an amount not to exceed one-half the cost for eligible supervisors, management officials, and law enforcement officers who elect to purchase professional liability insurance, up to $150 per employee per calendar year.

Federal executives can submit for PLI reimbursement each year. Reimbursement eligibility and amount is determined by the agency. The federal government decided to provide reimbursement for managers, supervisors, and law enforcement officers because the high level of responsibility that accompanies your position creates significant professional vulnerability. Public scrutiny, media sensation, political agendas, and increased accountability demands have made federal executives more susceptible to disciplinary proceedings and even personal capacity lawsuits. Allegations can come from anyone – members of the public, special interest groups, subordinates, and coworkers. When this happens, it is crucial that you have representation that understands your vulnerabilities.

FEDS Protection has been successfully defending federal executives against allegations of hostile work environments, EEO complaints, and other actions that federal managers face daily for nearly two decades. Federal executives have significant professional exposures that can vary based on agency, employees, responsibilities, and other factors. A FEDS Protection PLI policy can provide the peace of mind for federal executives to confidently make decisions without fear for their professional and financial wellbeing.

FEDS offers policies with $1 million, $2 million, or $3 million for legal defense and indemnity for personal capacity lawsuits.  Additionally, all policies include $200,000 in coverage for administrative actions and $100,000 in coverage for criminal investigations.  Annual premiums for FEDS Protection PLI start at $290, and payroll deduction options are available.
